A fresh pomegranate is a scrumptious nugget of food heaven that can play an integral role in your food.  Despite its recent popularity, few people realize that the pomegranate is not as exotic as you might think.  What makes the pomegranate pop is the inner red arils that contain tart and sweet flavor bursts.  Really, you can complement both your sweet and savory dishes with the pomegranate.  We think that Spanish religious missionaries imported the fruit to California in the colonial period.  The strongest area of pomegranate production is the San Jaoquin Valley.  </p>
